Limited series or long-running show? How to pick your next binge

Streaming has given us two very different kinds of TV. The limited series tells one complete story and ends. The long-running show builds a world you can live in for years. Both are great, but they suit different moods.

Pick a limited series when…

You want a satisfying ending, you have a free weekend, or you are in the mood for something tense and focused. There is no filler, and no risk of a beloved show being cancelled on a cliffhanger.

Pick a long-running show when…

You want comfort, characters you grow up with, and something to return to after a long day. The slow build is the point.

Our rule of thumb

Start a limited series on Friday night. Start a long-running show on a Monday, so it becomes part of your week rather than your whole weekend.
